Location:

Janes Creek mile marker at a stream crossing in Arcata, CA.

PWA is providing support and oversight to Humboldt Baykeeper in an effort to to quantify and characterize contamination associated with pathogenic fecal indicator bacteria and associated source animal populations in the Janes Creek and Little River watersheds in Humboldt County, California. Both watersheds were recently placed on the federal Clean Water Act Section  303 (d) list of impaired waters due to elevated bacteria levels. For more information about this project, check out this recent article in the Mad River Union entitled, "Bacterial barrage washes ashore – tests imminent for E. coli sources".
